Modular IP/MPLS Platform for Critical Infrastructure
The SMG818V5 is a modular IP/MPLS platform designed for long-term and highly available operation in energy transmission systems, railway communication networks, telecom and ISP backbone infrastructures. Powered by SMGOS — Simgenet’s locally developed IP/MPLS software — this solution delivers advanced routing and MPLS capabilities, IEEE 1588v2 PTP time synchronization support, and scalable 1G–100G hardware architecture for critical spine network deployments.
By integrating both software and hardware development, SMG818V5 provides predictable performance, rapid convergence and high availability across edge, aggregation and service access network layers.
Native SMGOS IP/MPLS Software Foundation
The SMG818V5 operates on SMGOS, a fully developed, locally engineered IP/MPLS routing operating system by Simgenet. This eliminates reliance on third-party routing software, providing full control, customization and long-term maintenance capabilities.
SMGOS architecture is designed around fast routing, high availability and service provider-grade network operations. It responds to topology changes with millisecond-class convergence and is built on engineering principles that prioritize field validation, protocol stability and predictable performance.
Routing and MPLS Protocol Capabilities
The SMG818V5 supports widely adopted routing and MPLS service protocols for critical and service provider networks:
This enables flexible deployment across edge, aggregation and service access network layers.
Fast Convergence and Continuity
To maintain service continuity, the platform implements optimized fast reconvergence mechanisms:
Fast Convergence
ECMP (Equal-Cost Multi-Path)
BFD (Bidirectional Forwarding Detection)
VPN and Service Features
To provide secure access and service continuity in operator and enterprise networks, SMG818V5 offers:
This enables controlled and efficient multi-service operation on shared infrastructure.
IEEE 1588v2 PTP Time Synchronization
SMG818V5 supports IEEE 1588-2008 (PTP v2) for time-sensitive infrastructure deployments.
Hardware timestamping is used at nodes directly connected to the upstream Grandmaster; software timestamping follows along chained router topologies to maintain timing continuity.
This capability is designed for energy, SCADA and telecom/ISP edge networks requiring event time stamping (SOE), system correlation and precise time awareness. NTP support is also provided for environments where PTP isn’t required.
Modular and Scalable Hardware Architecture
Unlike fixed port and closed chassis designs, SMG818V5 delivers a modular, scalable hardware approach:
This flexibility allows capacity expansion as demand evolves in critical infrastructure environments.
Control Plane and System Resources
This architecture supports large BGP table sizes, multiple VRF instances and heavy protocol workloads with stability.
Industrial-Grade Durability and Field Suitability
Typical Deployment Scenarios

Notes:
• All models use the same SMGOS software — protocol and service capabilities are identical across all platforms.
• Any model can be deployed in any sector (energy, railway, telecom, DC). Selection depends on port requirements, environmental conditions, and physical space — not on the sector.
• SMG818V5 and SMG1000: EN 61000-4 Level 3 (heavy industrial EMC), -20°C ~ +60°C, dual PSU — recommended for all field deployments outside controlled environments (energy, railway, industrial facilities, etc.).
