Huawei OptiXtrans E6616 is a highly integrated all-optical transport platform designed for critical industries such as energy, electric power, transportation, education, and finance. It enables smooth convergence of multiple technologies and provides reliable, high-capacity transmission with simplified OTN evolution.
The device supports ultra-broadband service access from 64k to 100GE, unifying services of all granularities to deliver higher bandwidth efficiency and lower latency. With up to 2.8 Tbps OTN switching capacity and 200 Gbit/s per slot, it significantly enhances electrical-layer performance. A highly integrated optical ROADM supports up to 20 degrees, increasing flexibility. Intelligent O&M is enabled by iMaster NCE, providing real-time performance visualization, big data analysis, and proactive network management.

Physically, the OptiXtrans E6616 measures 222 × 220 × 442 mm and weighs 8 kg. It can be installed in 19-inch or ETSI 300 mm cabinets. The DC chassis accommodates 14 service slots, while the AC chassis offers 12. Supported optical capacities include 1–20-degree ROADM. Electrical switching capacity reaches 2.8 Tbps for OTN and 140 Gbit/s (high order) plus 20 Gbit/s (low order) for TDM. The system supports up to 80 DWDM channels or 8 CWDM channels, with maximum per-channel rate of 200 Gbit/s. Service types include SDH/SONET, PDH, OTN, Ethernet, PCM, CPRI, SAN, and video. Line rates of 2.5G, 10G, 50G, 100G, and 200G are supported.
Supported pluggable modules include SFP/eSFP, XFP, SFP+, QSFP+, TXFP, CFP, CFP2, QSFP28, and GE SFP. Networking topologies such as point-to-point, chain, star, ring, chain-ring, tangent ring, intersecting ring, and mesh are available. Protection mechanisms include OTN client 1+1, intra-board 1+1, ODUk SNCP, optical line protection, tributary SNCP, and LPT. TDM protection includes SNCP, linear and ring MSP, TPS, E1 SNCP, 64K SNCP, and hitless switching. EoS protection supports LAG, DLAG, LCAS, LPT, and STP/RSTP. Equipment protection is achieved through redundant cross-connect, control, clock units, power supplies, and fans.
Optical power management functions include ALS, OPA, and IPA. Maintenance features cover ETH OAM (EoS), port mirroring, loopback, and PRBS testing. Easy O&M is achieved through Optical Doctor (OD) and Fiber Doctor (FD). Synchronization options include physical-layer clock (OTN+SDH), IEEE 1588v2, and ITU-T G.8275.1/G.8273.2 compliance.
Power inputs support DC with a standard range of -48 V to -60 V (-40 V to -72 V operational), and AC with a range of 100 V to 240 V. The operating environment allows long-term operation between -5 °C and +50 °C, short-term operation from -10 °C to +55 °C, and relative humidity between 5% and 85% (long-term) or 5% to 95% (short-term). The equipment complies with ETSI Class 3.1 environmental standards.
In terms of reliability, the OptiXtrans E6616 achieves a system availability of 0.9999965, equivalent to less than 2 minutes of annual downtime. The average annual repair rate is below 1.5%, with a mean time to repair (MTTR) of 4 hours and a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 129.63 years.
